License Restrictions

Some originating authorities place restrictions on the use of their images. These restrictions include usage while driving, charging fees to the end user, recording or archiving, sublicensing, and associating ads with camera images. When applicable, restrictions for each camera are included in Camera API responses (see GetCamerasInBox).

Note: For a full list of restricted regions, see License Restrictions.

Use While Driving

Cameras that have the UseWhileDrivingProhibited field set to True are prohibited from use while a user is driving. When an application is designed for use in a vehicle, a notice must be displayed for these cameras stating that the usage of camera images or video streams while driving is prohibited in the region. This notice can either be displayed during application usage, or within the application’s terms of use.

Fee to End User

End users must not be charged a specific fee to view camera images or video streams for cameras that have the FeeToEndUserProhibited field set to True. Fees may still be charged to businesses, and to end users for a bundle of services that includes cameras.

Recording & Archiving

Cameras that have the HistoricalImagesProhibited field set to True are prohibited from having their image or video stream recorded or archived. Restricted cameras may still be recorded as part of a media broadcast.

Sublicensing

Some originating authorities require a license amendment or separate license for each and every sublicensee, to be issued following review of the sublicensee service(s) by the originating authority. As such, cameras that have the SublicenseProhibited field set to True are prohibited from having their image or video stream displayed to sublicensees without securing the necessary licensing.

Associating Ads with Content

Cameras that have the AdsProhibited field set to True are prohibited from having their image or video stream directly associated with advertisements. Web pages and applications may still contain advertisements, provided they are not directly associated with the restricted cameras or camera images.
